Midweek Check-in (Oct. 8, 2025)

Good evening, church family!

I want to check in with you on this Wednesday with a heart turned toward prayer. I had the pleasure of speaking with Randy Rouse today. Randy has been going through some health issues and is facing major surgery later this month.

I think in these times it is especially important to rally the church in a call to prayer, but I always want to make sure I have permission before sharing the details. So I asked Randy if I could share his upcoming surgery with you, the church.

“Let’s get it out there.” he said. “Prayer is what has kept me going, and it means a lot to know everyone is praying for me.”

So consider this your official call to prayer, church family. Randy was supposed to have surgery on Friday, but that date has been pushed back to Oct. 20, which will give his medical team time to run the necessary tests and do the prep work.

The surgery is called a Whipple procedure in which a tumor and part of Randy’s pancreas will be removed along with his gall bladder. While there is some uncertainty about the tumor, there is a possibility that it is cancer. Regardless, they’re going to take it out!

Please pray for Randy’s healing and recovery. And pray for Debbie as well as she provides care.

I’m so blessed to be a part of a praying church. If you have a prayer request, you can share it with me through our church website. I’d love to know how I can pray for you this week.

If any of you are suffering, they should pray. If any of you are happy, they should sing. If any of you are sick, they should call for the elders of the church, and the elders should pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. Prayer that comes from faith will heal the sick, for the Lord will restore them to health. And if they have sinned, they will be forgiven. For this reason, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous person is powerful in what it can achieve.

-James 5:13-16

JUST FOR FUN

Hey, you read Pastor Billy's midweek check-in all the way to the end! As a reward, check out these crazy stories I came across recently:

·      A new industry-wide survey of drive-thru experiences found that Chick-fil-a and Dutch Bros have the highest customer satisfaction scores, but Taco Bell is the fastest.

·      If Veggie Tales taught us anything, it’s that “everybody’s got a water buffalo. Yours is fast but mine is slow.” That is especially true this week in Thailand.

·      With only 78 days until Christmas, adidas just released a brand new set of fashion track suits… for dogs and cats.
