Midweek Check-in (March 11, 2026)

Good afternoon, church family!

It’s time for another midweek check-in! Did you enjoy our beautiful, sunny, ONE day of spring yesterday? March in Kansas is as beautiful as it is unpredictable!

This past Sunday I took about 10 minutes in our worship service to share about an upcoming series that I don’t want you to miss. The NEXT Initiative is a seven-week series that starts the Sunday after Easter and runs through Pentecost Sunday. We’ll spend this time seeking God’s will and direction for the future of our church. If you missed it, you can see the video here.

Look for a letter in the mail this week with more details (if you don’t receive a letter, we need your address! Let us know here). And make sure to save these important dates on your calendar.

I believe that an essential part of seeking the Lord’s will is prayer and fasting. So I’m calling on the church to do just that each weekend starting this Friday. In a 24-hour period, from noon Friday to noon Saturday, please set aside time to pray and fast, as you are able, so we can fully prepare our hearts for what the Lord will reveal to us.

Prayer and fasting are important spiritual disciplines described in scripture:

·      Moses did it in preparation for the Lord giving him the Ten Commandments (Exodus 34:27-28)

·      David did it when his newborn son was sick (2 Samuel 12:16-17)

·      Nehemiah did it when mourning the destruction of his homeland (Nehemiah 1:4)

·      Esther did it when she and her people faced death threats (Esther 4:15-17)

·      Jesus fasted and prayed during His time of temptation in the wilderness (Matthew 4:1-2)

I then turned my face to my Lord God, asking for an answer with prayer and pleading, and with fasting…”

CHURCH ELECTIONS: Our annual church elections will take place on Sunday, March 29 before and after the Sunday morning worship service. Voting is only for those who have officially been accepted into church membership by attending a membership class or transferring membership from another Nazarene church. If you are interested in church members, please let us know!

CRAFT CONNECTIONS: The next Craft Connections meeting will take place Monday, March 16, 6-8 p.m. at the church.

SPRING BREAK: Spring break is next week! We will have no children’s ministries on the evening of Wednesday, March 18.

PRAYER: I’d like to know how I can best pray for you. We have a way to submit prayer requests online anytime day or night, which will help me join you in prayer.

CLEAN WATER 5K: The Clean Water 5k is a race right here in Wichita where you can walk, jog or run while supporting the mission to provide clean water wells to villages in Africa. One hundred percent of your $25 registration fee will go to the mission field! I helped start this race several years ago, and it’s a really fun event. So join me the morning of Saturday, April 11 along the Arkansas River in downtown Wichita. Check out more info and sign up at cleanwater5k.com.

JUST FOR FUN: Hey, you read Pastor Billy's midweek check-in all the way to the end! As a reward, check out these crazy stories I came across recently:
