Midweek Check-in (May 5, 2026)

Good evening, church family!
We’re pausing a bit earlier than usual for our midweek check-in, because I’m calling the church to a special event this Wednesday. Our IGNITE: Prayer and Worship Night starts at 6:30 and you won’t want to miss this!

We have engaged in a season of prayer and discernment over the past several weeks, and it’s building to a point of response this Sunday. Before then, we’re designating time as a church for directed prayer and worship. So in place of Wednesday evening life groups, teens’ and children’s ministries, we’re gathering as a church for this important next step.
This isn’t something we’re making up. Throughout scripture, God’s people pause to pray before a big event, challenge or next step of faith.
Moses, Joshua, Ezra, Nehemiah and Esther all call on God’s people to set aside time to pray before a significant occasion.
“So we fasted and prayed to our God for this, and he responded to us.”
-Ezra 8:23
And it’s not just an Old Testament practice.
Jesus went to his favorite prayer spot just before His time of sacrifice approached (Matthew 26:36).
The early church gathered for prayer before embarking on the mission God had given them (Acts 13:2-3).
Let’s do the same this Wednesday evening. Kids are welcome! The service is set up for your kids or grandkids to experience each part of the evening with you. See you there!
Your pastor,
Billy Byler
THE NEXT INITIATIVE: What is this all about? We’re seeking the Lord’s will and direction for the future of our church with some big plans and goals. So it’s really important to attend each Sunday morning to participate in this important season. Read more about The NEXT Initiative at woodlandlakescc.com/next.
CONTACT INFO: We have recently sent important church announcements through letters in the mail and through emails. If you are not receiving these, please update your contact info with us so we know how best to communicate to you.
PRAYER: I’d like to know how I can best pray for you. We have a way to submit prayer requests online anytime day or night, which will help me join you in prayer.
JUST FOR FUN: Hey, you read Pastor Billy's midweek check-in all the way to the end! As a reward, check out these crazy stories I came across recently:
An arson suspect in Ohio arrived at a police interview with burnt eyebrows. He was arrested.
The reason is still a mystery, but researchers have published findings which confirm that birds are more afraid of women than men.
The old adage that you should “feed a cold and starve a fever” was half right. Turns out – science says eating for both is beneficial!
