Good evening, church family!
Let’s pause on this beautiful Wednesday for a midweek check-in.
What were you made for? I suppose we could answer that question in many ways:
We were made for breathing. That's an important one.
We were made for love. The best I’ve heard it said recently is we were made by love, in love, from love and to love.
We were made for each other. I think the best life is a life lived in community – as a part of something bigger than the self, especially when that community comes together in the name of Jesus to glorify Him.
One more – we were made for more.
That was the theme at the 117th Kansas District Assembly, where Nazarenes from all over Kansas gathered in downtown Wichita last weekend. District Superintendent Kendall Franklin challenged us – we are made for more.
I like how Pastor Kendall put it: “Jesus never invited anyone simply to believe something. He invited them to follow Someone.”
I think we were made to be disciples of Jesus and to help others follow Him too.
“Follow my example, just like I follow Christ’s.”
-1 Corinthians 11:1
What more might the Lord have for you? It’s not more systems, programs and schedule-filling stuff that can so easily drain us. I think it’s more love, more joy, more grace and more growth toward the example Jesus gave us.
You were made for more, church family. Never forget it!

BACK-TO-SCHOOL SUPPLIES: We’ve collected school supplies for the upcoming school year, because we want to be a blessing to local students who need some help. Please consider sticking around after the morning worship service this Sunday (Aug. 9) to help us pack the supplies in backpacks! We’ll start with a free lunch for all our volunteers, then get to work!
BED-BUILDING EVENT: Last night 391 kids in Sedgwick County went to sleep without a bed of their own. We want to do something about that. Join us on Saturday, Sept. 5 when we’ll meet in our parking lot to build beds for kids in Wichita who don’t have a bed of their own. Breakfast and lunch will be provided along with all the materials, plans and tools necessary to get the job done. We just need people willing to help! All ages and ability levels are welcome.
PRAYER: I’d like to know how I can best pray for you. We have a way to submit prayer requests online anytime day or night, which will help me join you in prayer.
