Midweek Check-in (Oct. 15, 2026)

Good morning, church family!

It’s time for a midweek check-in, and we are right in the thick of changing seasons.

I’m sure it’s a welcome change for most. We’ve left the heat behind (a record-breaking September heat!), and cooler temperatures are here. It’s the perfect time of year for a morning walk or jog, which is something I love to do when the weather cooperates.

I think the changing seasons are a gift from the Lord. I haven’t always lived in places that experience all four seasons over the course of the year. But Kansas certainly does. What I like is the fact that change does come but it’s not wild, unpredictable change. So there are always trees – every season has trees – but there is a change to them. The sun always rises and sets, but the angle and the time are different. The temperature always increases during the days and decreases at night, but there is a shift in the extremes.

I think nature and the changing seasons, in a way, are reflections of a God who never changes but also reveals Himself in different ways as the seasons of life come and go. He is the One who saves us and delivers from evil (2 Timothy 4:18). He is also the One who corrects and disciplines those He loves (Hebrews 12:10-11). And the One who rewards the faithful (Matthew 6:3-4). And the One who redeems our broken lives (Romans 8:28).

All the while, through seasons of abundance and blessing and seasons of challenge and correction, the Lord remains unchanged.

Give thanks to the Lord

 because he is good.

God’s faithful love lasts forever!

-Psalm 136:1

So in a time of change, let’s praise the Lord for His unending grace and steadfast love!

Your pastor,

Billy Byler

NAME TAGS: I’d like us to take make an extra effort to wear our name tags on Sunday mornings. This is for the benefit of us all, but it will also be a blessing to our new staff member (worship leader Gabe Wilson) who wants to get to know each of you when he joins us starting Oct. 25! If you don’t yet have a name tag, you can request one on the form at the welcome center or talk to Bill Price.

MEN’S BREAKFAST: All men are invited to the monthly men’s breakfast this Saturday at 7:30 a.m. at the church. Enjoy a good meal, conversation and a special guest speaker. Bring your appetite and bring a friend!

CHURCH WORKDAY: Winter is coming and we have some projects in and around our church facilities that need attention. Join us Saturday, Nov. 7 for breakfast followed by a church workday. All our welcome and there will be projects for every skill level.

FALL 2026 MEN’S RETREAT: This year’s Kansas District men’s retreat will take place at our church Friday evening through Saturday afternoon, Nov. 13-14. Activities include TopGolf, delicious meals, dynamic speakers, games, door prizes and the opportunity to connect with other men from all over Kansas. The cost is $100 for the weekend (or $50 if you can only attend one of the days), but scholarships are available, if needed. Register here and join Pastor Billy and the men of the church at this awesome annual retreat!

PRAYER: I’d like to know how I can best pray for you. We have a way to submit prayer requests onlineanytime day or night, which will help me join you in prayer.

JUST FOR FUN: Hey, you read Pastor Billy's midweek check-in all the way to the end! As a reward, check out these crazy stories I came across recently:

·       Five years ago scientists asked 1,000 people to bury their underwear in Switzerland, and they’re just now releasing what they’ve learned about Swiss soil.

·       Certain foods are actually healthier for you when they become leftovers after a night in the refrigerator.

·       Christmas Day is just 71 days away, and here’s a unique gift idea: For just $25 you can send a potato… through the mail… with your face on it.
