Good evening, church family!

Let’s take a moment to check-in, and I want to update you on the amazing work of our young people! This past Sunday we welcomed Kansas District NMI (missions) President Kelly Love to share about a need in a hospital in Papua New Guinea. Kelly demonstrated how clean, usable bandages are needed for treatment of injuries at the hospital. Then our kids got to work preparing those bandages!

This missions project was funded by the $700 raised from concessions at the recent karate tournament. It was such a blessing to see our kids eagerly jump in to the work of turning bed sheets into bandages that will be shipped halfway around the world to this hospital!
By the end of the Sunday morning worship service, the kids had prepared 83 bandages and learned more about the ways the hospital in Papua New Guinea helps heal both body and soul in the name of Jesus!

Whatever you do, whether in speech or action, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus and give thanks to God the Father through him.
-Colossians 3:17

LAY MINISTER’S ACADEMY: Save the date for the next Lay Minister’s Academy Oct. 25, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Pratt, KS. This event is designed to encourage, equip, resource, and network volunteers who serve in our local churches. Lunch is included! Register here.

ADOPTION PARTY: Come celebrate with Angie Morris and her four newly adopted children (Hayze, Cylis, Kaizer and Skylynn) at a party at the church on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. We’ll hear a little more about Angie and the kids and their journey through foster care and adoption!
CRAFT CONNECTIONS: The next meeting of the Craft Connections group is Monday, Oct. 20, 6-8 p.m. at the church. This group is perfect for those interested in crafting!
TREE OF LIFE: My next series will take a closer look at the unique way we encounter trees throughout scripture. Even trees can point us to the way of Jesus. In preparation for this series, I’m looking for photos of unique and/or beautiful trees. So keep an eye out, snap a photo and post them on social media with #TreeOfLife or simply email them to me.
JUST FOR FUN
Hey, you read Pastor Billy's midweek check-in all the way to the end! As a reward, check out these crazy stories I came across recently:
· A medical researcher is exploring a way to detect lung cancer, but he needs one thing to test his theory: people’s toenail clippings.
· A monarch butterfly got a very unique procedure: a wing transplant.
· With only 71 days until Christmas, it costs just $139.95 to snag this 6-foot, pre-lit Christmas tree cactus.
