Good afternoon, church family!
Let’s take a moment to check-in on this wonderful Thanksgiving Eve!
This past Sunday we learned that living in community includes the call to “teach and warn each other with all wisdom by singing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.” It was a joy to worship with you and sing a sampling of kids songs along with hymns and wrap up with one of my favorites: Goodness of God.
Songs stick with us – the melody helps us remember the lyrics and singing these songs regularly is an easy way to keep God’s faithfulness and promises close to our hearts!
Lord, teach me what your statutes are about, and I will guard every part of them.
Help me understand so I can guard your Instruction and keep it with all my heart.
Psalm 119:33-34
I hope your hearts are filled with gratitude and song this special Thanksgiving week. I am so thankful for a church family who has demonstrated love for their neighbors, a welcoming environment for newcomers, and appreciation for a new pastor still getting to know everyone! You are loved!
We always thank God for all of you when we mention you constantly in our prayers. This is because we remember your work that comes from faith, your effort that comes from love, and your perseverance that comes from hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the presence of our God and Father.
1 Thessalonians 1:2-3

THANKSGIVING: Just a reminder that there are no regular Wednesday evening ministries and activities tonight due to the Thanksgiving holiday. The church office is also closed today, Thursday and Friday.
GET INVOLVED THIS CHRISTMAS! Here are a few easy ways to spread some joy:
ANGEL TREE: You were so responsive to our Angel Tree program that we ran out of angels! Our NMI director Sherilyn Elder has received seven more names from the counselor at Southeast High School, so if you missed out on getting an angel before they were gone, we’ll have seven more available this Sunday. See Sherilyn in the lobby! Remember, gifts are due back by Dec. 15.
CHRISTMAS CARD POST OFFICE: Our teens will once again offer this service to help deliver Christmas cards to households who attend our church. The price is 25 cents per card starting Dec. 1 and the teens will be delivering cards through Dec. 22. Thanks for supporting our teens!
CHRISTMAS PASTOR SPONSORSHIP: Each Christmas we as a church get the opportunity to adopt a local Nazarene pastor from the Kansas District. This year we get to bless Pastor David Martinez of Eastridge Church of the Nazarene. To be a part of our church-wide effort to bless Pastor David, please turn in your Christmas cards, notes of encouragement, gift cards, checks and/or cash marked “District Christmas Pastor” by Sunday, Dec. 15. Thank you!
INVITE & ATTEND THIS CHRISTMAS! We’ll soon have invite cards to take and help you invite neighbors, friends and coworkers to these special Christmas worship events:
CHRISTMAS WORSHIP NIGHT: Celebrate the season on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. with a special evening of Christmas worship that includes some of your favorite Christmas songs and the receiving of Communion together.
CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE: Invite the whole family for an hour on Christmas Eve to hear the true Christmas story and sing along to a candlelight service from 6-7 p.m. in our sanctuary.
JUST FOR FUN
Hey, you read Pastor Billy's midweek check-in all the way to the end! As a reward, check out these crazy stories I came across recently:
Kindergarteners in a Japanese school kept having their shoes stolen outside of their classroom. Security cameras caught footage of the thief in action: it was a weasel.
Results from a new clinical study revealed an effective way to reduce belly fat and lower blood pressure: eat maple syrup!
Only 28 days until Christmas: For just $15.99 you can give a single tortilla chip made from Carolina Reaper peppers – one of the hottest peppers in the world. I do not recommend this! Try at your own risk!
